PD-132 230V Single Channel Inductive Vehicle Loop Detector

The PD-132 Vehicle Loop Detector 230V is a single-channel inductive vehicle detector for automatic parking barriers, sliding gates and vehicle access control systems.

When connected to an inductive loop installed beneath the road surface, the PD-132 detects a vehicle and activates its relay output. This signal can be used by a compatible gate or parking barrier controller for vehicle detection, automatic opening, presence detection or safety functions.

The detector operates on 230V AC and provides a fast response time of approximately 10 milliseconds. It also features four adjustable sensitivity levels and an operating frequency range of 20–170 kHz.

How Does the PD-132 Loop Detector Work?

An inductive loop cable is installed beneath the road surface and connected to the PD-132. The loop produces an electromagnetic field. When a vehicle moves over or stops above the loop, its metal mass changes the loop inductance.

The PD-132 detects this change and activates its relay. The relay then provides a signal to the connected parking barrier, automatic gate or vehicle access control system.

PD-132 for Automatic Parking Barriers

The PD-132 can be connected to compatible automatic parking barriers for vehicle detection.

Depending on the barrier controller and wiring configuration, the loop can be used for:

  • Automatic vehicle exit opening
  • Vehicle presence detection
  • Barrier safety loop operation
  • Automatic closing logic

For a safety or presence application, the loop is commonly positioned in the vehicle path beneath the barrier area. The exact function depends on the barrier control board and how the detector relay is connected.

PD-132 for Automatic Sliding Gates

The detector can also work with compatible automatic sliding gate motors. Its relay can connect to an appropriate OPEN, step-by-step or safety input depending on the required operation.

For an open-only application, use the dedicated OPEN input when the gate controller provides one. This prevents the vehicle detector from sending an unwanted close command through a step-by-step input.

PD-132 for Swing Gate Automation

The PD-132 can also be integrated with compatible swing gate motors for automatic exit opening, vehicle detection or supported safety functions.

The correct relay mode and control-board input should always be selected according to the required operation.

Adjustable Sensitivity & Frequency

The PD-132 provides four sensitivity levels. The correct setting depends on factors such as loop dimensions, installation depth, number of loop turns and the type of vehicles being detected.

Its 20–170 kHz operating frequency range also helps when multiple loops are installed nearby. Appropriate frequency selection can reduce interference between adjacent vehicle detection loops.

Filter Mode

A configurable filter mode is available for installations affected by electromagnetic interference. It can help reduce unstable or false detection in electrically noisy environments.

Because additional filtering can affect sensitivity and response time, it should normally be used only when interference is causing detection problems.

Loop Cable Installation

The vehicle detection loop is normally installed in a saw-cut slot beneath the road surface. Loop size and the number of turns should be selected according to the lane and vehicle detection requirements.

The lead cable between the road loop and detector should be twisted to help reduce electrical interference. The specified maximum loop connection cable length is approximately 20 metres.

Recommended Applications

  • Automatic parking barriers
  • Vehicle exit loops
  • Vehicle safety and presence loops
  • Automatic sliding gates
  • Automatic swing gates
  • Residential community entrances
  • Commercial parking areas
  • Office and staff parking entrances
  • Warehouse vehicle gates
  • Factory entrances
  • Industrial access control

PD-132 vs PD-232 Loop Detector

The PD-132 is a single-channel detector intended for one inductive loop. For installations requiring two independent loop detection channels, a suitable dual-channel detector such as the PD-232 may be more appropriate.
